Hi! Welcome to my website.

I am the author of the Dalriada Trilogy - a series of novels set in ancient Scotland during the Roman invasions.  I love being able to have direct contact with readers, so please, if there’s anything you want to know or say, email away! For any returning readers, I have lots of great news to impart, so please go to latest news to catch up on new book deals, new agents, and new homes!

CALLING ALL U.S READERS: My U.S publisher Overlook is now publishing the third book The Boar Stone in January 2008. It is being given a new title for the US release: "The Song of the North", and a new cover. This is all to do with publisher marketing and totally beyond my control; sorry you will have three different covers! However, it is exactly the same book! The UK version by Orion is available on www.amazon.com so you can purchase it earlier that way, or try Amazon Canada (see below).

FOR CANADIAN AND AUSTRALIAN READERS: The third book The Boar Stone is due out on July 1 2007.

FOR GERMAN READERS: The German edition of The White Mare is out as "Tartan und Schwert" and The Dawn Stag as "Das Keltische Amulett". The third book that completes the trilogy, The Boar Stone is definitely being published in Germany, though I don't know when.

FOR FRENCH READERS: The White Mare came out in France as "La Jument Blanche". I have just received news that the second book The Dawn Stag WILL be coming out in French, probably by the end of 2007.

FOR SPANISH and SOUTH AMERICAN READERS: The White Mare is published as "La Yegua Blanca." The Dawn Stag has just been bought by my Spanish publisher, Santillana, and will most likely be coming out in early 2008.

If you have questions about the unusual end of The Dawn Stag, or the nature of trilogies please go to the "My News" page where there is a bit more information under a spoiler alert. I am having to stick to known history as much as possible, and there are some plot developments I really could not avoid or change. This is historical fiction, not pure fiction - I sure work hard to make it so and give you a little bit more!

Visit Scotland!

The Dalriada trilogy is set in ancient Scotland, mainly around the Kilmartin valley in Argyll. Most of the beautiful images shown here are reproduced with the kind permission of the Kilmartin House museum, the best local museum I have ever encountered, in one of the most picturesque, mysterious, and history-packed parts of Scotland.

David Lyons' photos are taken from Kilmartin: an Introduction and Guide, by Rachel Butter, which has all the info on the archaeological sites mentioned in my books, and will absolutely convince you to visit this soul home of mine. It, and lots more historical and tourist information, is available from the Kilmartin House Museum website at www.kilmartin.org
