Raven Queen

Welcome! I write historical fiction fantasy novels about the ancient Celts in Scotland and Ireland. My books are a mix of romance, the adventures of battles and swordfights, and the mysticism and magic of the Celts. I studied archaeology, so they are also based on historical research.

TWO CLICKS and START READING: Just click on a book cover below, read the blurb, then scroll down to click on an excerpt.

NEWS: E-BOOKS!!! The rights to my first series, The Dalriada Trilogy, have recently reverted back to me. Very soon I will be putting the three books - The White Mare, The Dawn Stag, and The Boar Stone - out as e-books myself. Due to rights issues, they can only be offered by me on retail sites outside of the US. But they will be available EVERYWHERE and I am considering offering them in all formats, including PDF, from this site. Stay posted!

MY BOOKS: The Raven Queen is a stand-alone story about the great Irish mythic Queen Maeve. It based on the ancient Celtic myths, and set around 100 BC in Ireland. Its plot and some characters are interwoven with The Swan Maiden, a novel about the maiden Deirdre of the Sorrows - the ancient Irish "Helen of Troy".

My first series - The Dalriada Trilogy - is about the Scottish tribes resisting the Roman invasions of Scotland around 80 AD.

This site is a window to me, so I’ve tried to share the things that have inspired me, including the history behind the books, the myths, the landscape, my interest in Celtic spirituality and psychology. There is also encouragement for aspiring writers. Read as much or as little as you want!

"Wonderful. Watson does not tell the story, she lives it.
Mystical and poetic, a tour de force. A magical and compelling recreation of the lost Celtic world." -
Rosalind Miles, author of Isolde, Queen of the Western Isles
